Hotel InterContinental Wien
The InterContinental Wien opened in 1964 as the largest hotel in Austria at the time. Designed by the Austrian architect Carl Appel in a strictly functionalist style, the hotel has shaped the cityscape for over 50 years. The spacious lobby has been altered several times over the years and its current, classically elegant design goes back to the interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon. The opulent chandelier in the adjacent bar area dates back to the early 1960s and is a popular film motif. The Parlor restaurant was designed in cooperation with Vitra Design and impresses with its black and white look.
