Since 1965, the Film Museum's retrospective programs have taken place at the Museum's own screening venue, located in the Albertina building behind Vienna's State Opera. Based on a concept by Peter Kubelka that was first realized in New York at the Anthology Film Archives in 1970, the Invisible Cinema, with its all black design, serves as a "viewing and listening machine," permitting viewers to focus their concentration with utmost intensity on the film being shown.
Following a period of extensive renovation and expansion at the hands of architects Friedrich Mascher and Erich Steinmayr as well as technical upgrades to the projection and sound system, the cinema re-opened as "Das Unsichtbare Kino 3" ("The Invisible Cinema 3") in 2003.
The venue has 163 seats and two wheelchair spaces, is barrier-free and equipped with an inductive sound system.

Hotel Bristol, by tradition a source of inspiration, enchants and mesmerises. George Gershwin wrote here his “An American in Paris”, Catherine Deneuve shot scenes for a film in the bar, opera singer Nellie Melba was the inspiration for the sweet temptation of the famous Peach Melba ice-cream dessert, and the Prince of Wales even brought his beloved Wallis Simpson to Vienna, but in doing so evidently lost not only his heart, but also his crown.
Hotel Bristol with its unique location vis-à-vis the Vienna State Opera, has been one of Vienna’s prime addresses ever since 1892. Artists, stars, monarchs and business travellers have long appreciated the comfort, delightful service and cosmopolitan flair of the hotel. There is no better place from which to immerse yourself here and now in VIENNA, capital of music, incomparable metropolis and former imperial city.
Hotel Bristol is an art deco gem. With the judicious integration of modern design, the hotel offers an ambience that captivates guests with its stylish charm and deeprooted history. Legendary and famous: the striking stairway up to the suites with a view of the Vienna State Opera, the valuable original paintings and antiques, and naturally the open hearth in the lounge. The majestic Hotel Imperial and its sumptuous surroundings were originally created in 1863 as the Prince of Württemberg’s Viennese residence. Overlooking the historic Ring Boulevard in central Vienna, the building was transformed into a hotel to accommodate discerning visitors of the 1873 World’s Fair. Truly the palace of a prince, the façade is Italian Neo Renaissance with emblematic details.
Atop the building is a stone balustrade that elegantly frames a group of allegorical animals from the Württemberg coat of arms. The portal group is dominated by four impressive statues that are equally symbolic. The original entrance, flanked by two stone sentry boxes, was wide enough to accommodate a two-horse drawn carriage.
The interior furnishings of the Hotel Imperial artfully showcase the 19th Century romance of Vienna with pristine marble, hand carved statues, and spectacular crystal chandeliers. The time-honored Imperial Restaurant and Kaffeehaus Café Imperial Wien have accommodated many famous authors and composers.
Inside the lobby, a Royal Staircase leading up to suites and rooms is lit by magnificent chandeliers that sparkle and shimmer from high stucco ceilings radiating aristocratic flair. Private balconies offer splendid views of the roofs and spires of old Vienna.
The InterContinental Wien opened in 1964 as the largest hotel in Austria at the time. Designed by the Austrian architect Carl Appel in a strictly functionalist style, the hotel has shaped the cityscape for over 50 years. The spacious lobby has been altered several times over the years and its current, classically elegant design goes back to the interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon. The opulent chandelier in the adjacent bar area dates back to the early 1960s and is a popular film motif. The Parlor restaurant was designed in cooperation with Vitra Design and impresses with its black and white look.
Traditional Vienna was a place where businessmen, artists, scientists and lovers came together to mix and mingle. Curious and zealous individuals from all over the monarchy and Europe as a whole would flock to the imperial city. Tasteful lifestyle and indulgence played a prominent role in all of this – balls, soirees, concerts and coffeehouses were an obligatory component of this way of life. As one of the most state-of-the-art hotels of its time, our establishment introduced various innovations, such as a lift, or central heating, electricity and running water in all rooms,. During the fading 19th century, the Imperial Court was as much of a paragon for us as it is today, with its wealth of cordiality and cleanliness. The role of the Emperor may perhaps have been reserved to a single person. However, feeling like an emperor — as a result of our professional, charming service — can be experienced by anyone. Timeless things are good, we say!

Located in the heart of one of Vienna’s oldest and most beautiful areas, the first district, you will find the famous Palais Ferstel. The young architect Heinrich von Ferstel created this Palais between 1856 and 1860 while he was captivated by the impressions of a long visit to Italy. The unique combination of Venetian-Florentine Trecento architecture with classic ashlar masonry has rendered this building one of Vienna’s grandest and most interesting examples of Wilhelminian-style architecture. At the time of its opening in 1860, the Palais Ferstel was the newest design in Vienna. The stylish rooms and the glass-covered yard not only briefly housed the Vienna Stock Exchange and the Austro-Hungarian National Bank but also provided a suitable ambience for the famous Cafe Central which became the hub of Europe’s intellectual elite towards the end of the 19th Century. Today the Palais Ferstel still captures one’s imagination with its perfect combination of various architectural styles and represents a refreshing symbiosis of impressive architecture in a classical surrounding with state-of-the-art facilities. Its sympathetic restoration, which remained true to the original down to the very last detail, has returned the building to its former splendour. At the same time, all the requirements of contemporary living have been fully taken into consideration.

It took five years to build Ohmans creation, which is now a major tourist attraction in its own right. It is perhaps the most beautiful Jugendstil greenhouse ever built. By 1988 the building had fallen into disrepair and was closed to the public. Ten years and $17m later the refurbished building was reopened to the public.

An avant-garde masterpiece in the middle of one of the tradition-richest cities. SO/Vienna is far more than an ordinary luxury hotel. Built by the French star architect Jean Nouvel, it is rather a work of art that blends into the multifaceted cityscape like a sculpture. For example, Nouvel took up elements of Vienna's St. Stephen's Cathedral in his design and impressively translated them into the 21st century. An experience that combines art, architecture and the centuries.
Located on the 18th floor, Das LOFT Restaurant is the culinary highlight. The restaurant is a real hotspot for gourmets and friends of innovative cuisine. From this somewhat different Viennese restaurant you can enjoy an unprecedented view over Vienna - St. Stephen's Cathedral within reach.

With the illuminated ceiling, she creates a luminous contrast to the otherwise very simple interior. A place that exudes exclusivity and extravagance and combines Viennese charm with international flair.

Zoku Vienna creates a new category within the hotel industry: a hybrid of home and office, designed for global nomads, newcomers to Vienna and open Viennese. The hotel was newly built and opened on 1.6.21 - all social spaces (Living Kitchen Restaurant/Lobby/Coworking Space/Meeting Rooms/Bar) are located on the 7th floor and are therefore incredibly bright and the adjacent terrace (circa 50 sqm) offers spectacular views of the Prater and the city of Vienna. The predominant style elements at Zoku are lots of green plants, light wood and natural light. In total, the Social Spaces offer a variety of seating options and quite different furniture styles on more than 120 sqm of space. There are also 2 smaller meeting rooms (17 and 18 sqm) and a large event space (64 sqm with a private roof terrace of about 34 sqm). Zoku Vienna is centrally located in the second district of Vienna between the Messe Wien and the Prater, 2 minutes from the U2 Messe-Prater station and has about 100 parking spaces.
