The complex was built up within the european architectural competition four young planners EUROPAN. It consists of three different nord-south-orientated buildings, which are arranged around a central square.

George-Washington-Hof looks with its surrounding houses like a garden city. Inside the complex are situated five attached courtyards with a wide green area, crossed by two streets.

Großfeldsiedlung ist the largest complex made of concrete in Vienna. Different architects built up in several construction phases a metropolitan ensemble in a green surrounding, which includes two-floor houses as well as 16-floor high towers.

The Sandleitenhof is the largest residential complex of municipal housing construction in Vienna. Covering a total area of 68,581 m2, the complex extends in the 16th district on the slopes of the Vienna woods over several streets.

Karl-Marx-Hof impresses with solid walls, huge arched passages, gates and flagpoles. The face of the building has small windows. The only decoration are continuous balconies. On a total area of 156.000m2 you can as well find large courtyards with spacious greens, squares and paths.

The Karl-Seitz-Hof in the 21st district presents itself as a garden-type residential building with generously laid out courtyards and green areas. It was built between 1926 and 1931. On a total area of 25,320 m², 1,173 apartments and extensive green areas were built. Between 1995 and 1998 a comprehensive renovation of the Karl-Seitz-Hof took place. Small apartments were put together and equipped with new sanitary facilities.
The construction of Metzleinstalerhof already started in the first world war. Because of shortage of money the construction was stopped, in 1918 restarted the apartment building was opend in 1925. It consits of social services like bathhouse, laundry, library and kindergarten.

Characteristic for Rabenhof are the strong distinctions between the different building elements, like free-standing towers or a variety of terraces, staircases and pergolas.

Reumannhof is made up of a high central part and two side parts. It conforms the keynote of Otto Wagner regarding a metropolitan and monumental architecture.

The groundplan shape of Schimon-Hof is a irregular triangle with a spacious opend garden yard. By the arrangement of the buildings come up further smaller yards and front gardens.

The Theodor-Körner-Hof was planned by numerous architects. On a total area of 30.000m2 are located 14 blocks around yards and green areas. 2006/2007 was built up a 150 meter long noise barrier to the "Gürtel".

The center of the complex builds the Albin-Hirsch-Platz. The The square was build up in 1937 arround a former "Barackenkirche". The simple houses with saddle roofs consists of one to two levels.
