At the beginning of the 18th century, the hunting lodge, the "Thunhof", built in 1694, was transformed into a Baroque garden palace with a courtyard of honour according to the plans of Anton Ospel and Antonio Beduzzi. In 1742 Empress Maria Theresa acquired the palace as a widow's and retirement residence for her mother Elisabeth Christine and had it further developed by the court architect Nicolaus Pacassi.
Renowned artists created both architectural and artistic masterpieces, including a fresco depicting the goddess of the dawn Aurora in the ceiling mirror of the vestibule by Daniel Gran, sculptures in the staircase as well as sphinxes and attic figures in the outdoor area by Lorenzo Mattielli or the figure painting by Carlo Carlone in the ballroom.

Hotel Bristol, by tradition a source of inspiration, enchants and mesmerises. George Gershwin wrote here his “An American in Paris”, Catherine Deneuve shot scenes for a film in the bar, opera singer Nellie Melba was the inspiration for the sweet temptation of the famous Peach Melba ice-cream dessert, and the Prince of Wales even brought his beloved Wallis Simpson to Vienna, but in doing so evidently lost not only his heart, but also his crown.
Hotel Bristol with its unique location vis-à-vis the Vienna State Opera, has been one of Vienna’s prime addresses ever since 1892. Artists, stars, monarchs and business travellers have long appreciated the comfort, delightful service and cosmopolitan flair of the hotel. There is no better place from which to immerse yourself here and now in VIENNA, capital of music, incomparable metropolis and former imperial city.
Hotel Bristol is an art deco gem. With the judicious integration of modern design, the hotel offers an ambience that captivates guests with its stylish charm and deeprooted history. Legendary and famous: the striking stairway up to the suites with a view of the Vienna State Opera, the valuable original paintings and antiques, and naturally the open hearth in the lounge. The majestic Hotel Imperial and its sumptuous surroundings were originally created in 1863 as the Prince of Württemberg’s Viennese residence. Overlooking the historic Ring Boulevard in central Vienna, the building was transformed into a hotel to accommodate discerning visitors of the 1873 World’s Fair. Truly the palace of a prince, the façade is Italian Neo Renaissance with emblematic details.
Atop the building is a stone balustrade that elegantly frames a group of allegorical animals from the Württemberg coat of arms. The portal group is dominated by four impressive statues that are equally symbolic. The original entrance, flanked by two stone sentry boxes, was wide enough to accommodate a two-horse drawn carriage.
The interior furnishings of the Hotel Imperial artfully showcase the 19th Century romance of Vienna with pristine marble, hand carved statues, and spectacular crystal chandeliers. The time-honored Imperial Restaurant and Kaffeehaus Café Imperial Wien have accommodated many famous authors and composers.
Inside the lobby, a Royal Staircase leading up to suites and rooms is lit by magnificent chandeliers that sparkle and shimmer from high stucco ceilings radiating aristocratic flair. Private balconies offer splendid views of the roofs and spires of old Vienna.
Künstlerhaus, one of the largest art associations in Austria, was built in 1868 as a center for culture and art. Furthermore, the Stadkino (former Künstlerhauskino with a historic hall dating back to 1948) as well as the hospitality spaces of Ludwig & Adele (including a café, a restaurant and a bar) are located in the Künstlerhaus building.
The generous old apartment is located on the third level of the house, providing lots of light and a magnificent view over the city centre. The ornamented ceiling, the chimney and the dark wooden floor contribute to the apartments noblesse. Kitchen and bathroom are modernized.
The flat contains little furniture on 120 sqm, divided in 4 rooms, 1 WC, 1 bathroom, a kitchen and a hallway.
In the 1860s, the Austrian Trade Association (since 1839) decided to have its own association building erected according to the plans of architect Otto Thienemann in the style of Palladian classicism. In 1872, Emperor Franz Josef I ceremoniously opened the palace, which is located near the magnificent Ringstrasse. Michael Matscheko, Wilhelm Exner, Franz Wertheim and many others shaped the history of the building. Many groundbreaking ideas, such as the Vienna Urania, the TGM or the Vienna World Exhibition, were conceived and realized here.
The Beletage of the house was not only used for meetings, festivities and balls, but was also the place for presentations of technical innovations. In 1868, for example, the first public test flight of Wilhelm Kress' flying model took place in the ballroom. Today, after extensive revitalization (1988-1991) and renovation (2004), the Beletage is the ideal setting for social events of all kinds. Receptions, conferences, meetings, balls and also clubbings take place in our classic ambience.

The objective of classical equitation is to study the way the horse naturally moves and to cultivate the highest levels of haute école elegance the horse is capable of through systematic training. The result creates an unparalleled harmony between rider and horse, as only Vienna's Spanish Riding School achieves.
To coincide with the celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of Mozart's birth in 2006, the Theater an der Wien was reopened in January of that year as the new opera house of the City of Vienna. Since then, it has presented itself as an innovative "stagione" opera house. The contemporary and outstanding musical quality of the productions make the venue on Wienzeile a centre of baroque opera and modern music theatre in Vienna.
The Josefstadt Theatre is one of the most successful stages in the German speaking theatre world. It is known for the best artistic craftsmanship, high quality acting and tradition. It is not just a Viennese theatre; it is an Austrian Institution. The architecture ensures an intimate liaison between actors and audience contributing to the unique performances at the “Theater in der Josefstadt”.
The theatre was founded in 1788 to spur on the tavern’s „Bey den goldenen Straußen” profit. In 1924 Max Reinhardt renovated the theatre inspired by the Teatro La Fenice in Venice.
