56TH ROUND TABLE
MARCH 17, 2021
At the first digital industry evening, Stefan Drandijski and Thomas Kirchberger from the Austrian Federal Ministry of the Interior provided information about filming in the police's area of responsibility.
In general, the police and the ministry may only provide props and emergency vehicles that cannot be purchased on the open market for filming. A film set with police props (uniforms, patrol cars, police logos, etc.) as well as actors miming police officers must always be clearly identified and recognizable as such. In addition, it must be obvious to outsiders that this is a filming and an artificial setting in which the police officers are appearing. The use of police officers and props on the film set should also be registered in advance with the provincial police directorate.
On request, the Vienna Film Commission will gladly provide the contact details of the responsible department at the Austrian Federal Ministry of the Interior.
