The construction industry is booming. With a turnover of more than 114 billion, it drives the economic forces in Germany, devouring huge amounts of soil and nature in the process. The hunger for sand, gravel and cement is so great that in some places it is already difficult to produce concrete. Cement is one of the major global climate pests, emitting around eight percent CO2. Companies in Vienna, Hanover and Amsterdam are now showing that there are alternatives. Climate-friendly construction is possible, because many raw materials are already in our cities. They are a huge warehouse created by us humans.
