Sabine Nemez and Marten S. Sneijders second case: Nemez, until recently a police officer, has been given the long-awaited study place at the Academy of the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) in Wiesbaden. There, the eccentric investigator Maarten S. Sneijder teaches, who got to know her skills in a tricky Viennese case and personally selected her for training as a case analyst.
But on the very first day at the academy Sabines breaks joy, when she learns that her friend Erik Dorfer, criminal commissar at the BKA, was shot on duty and with a life-threatening head injury in the intensive care unit. She hurries to the hospital, sits at his bed and does not want to give up hope - in vain. Erik dies a little later. Shocked and deeply shocked, Sabine continues to attend classes only on Sneijder's pressure, in which he attacks his students on three brutal, unresolved murders.
