Back

Victor Gangl, born in 1983, is a Vienna-based film composer. From an early age, he developed a strong curiosity for a wide range of musical styles and learned several instruments; among his formative musical influences was his work as a student of jazz guitarist Karl Ratzer.

Today, he writes music for national and international film and television productions, particularly documentaries, as well as short films and feature films. In his work, he combines musical precision with a refined sense of cinematic dramaturgy and atmosphere.

In addition to his work as a composer, Gangl is also actively involved in cultural policy and advocates for the interests of composers. He is Vice President of the Austrian Composers Association (ACOM), a full member of the Austrian collecting society AKM and its Programme Review Committee, a member of the Academy of Austrian Film, and a board member of dok.at – the Austrian Documentary Film Association.
