VÖAP was founded in 2004 to address the shared professional challenges faced by film professionals working in the production department. These include, in particular, cooperation with public authorities, the tension between the role of employees and the interests of producers, and the challenge of balancing legal and economic requirements with artistic freedom.
The association sees itself as a platform for the exchange of information and experience, professional support, and collegial networking. A key focus is also the integration and support of younger colleagues.
As a member of the Austrian Film Professionals Association, VÖAP represents the interests of non-creative professions within the production department and actively advocates for improved working conditions in the film industry through labour law initiatives and cooperation with trade unions.
