film.location.wien - Industry Talk with the Archdiocese of Vienna
Elena Holzhausen and Imma Mautner Markhof offered participants of our industry talk exclusive insights into the parish church of St. Joseph ob der Laimgrube, the Mariahilf Church and the Barnabite monastery. In addition to the magnificent main rooms, oratories, cellars and libraries were also opened.
Filming in sacred spaces is possible under certain conditions. In addition to motifs, rooms can also be made available for dressing rooms, make-up and catering. Enquiries are first reviewed by the Archdiocese’s media house and assessed by monument experts.
Props – from candlesticks to chasubles – can also be used for filming. The income from filming goes directly to the parishes, which in turn invest the money in the maintenance of the buildings. Film productions thus make a valuable contribution to the preservation of historical substance.
The industry talk showed how closely creativity and responsibility are linked here and how cooperation with the Archdiocese of Vienna opens up new perspectives for filming in churches.
