film.location.wien. Industry Talk with MA 44 - Municipal Swimming Pools
The Vienna Film Commission's latest Industry Talk, held in cooperation with MA 44 – Municipal Swimming Pools, focused on the Amalienbad, one of Vienna's most impressive historic indoor swimming pools, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.
Rainer Hauswirth, Head of MA 44, and Martin Kotinsky, Head of Public Relations, gave the participants an overview of the wide range of filming opportunities available across Vienna's public baths. In addition to swimming pools, changing rooms and sauna areas, many locations also offer technical facilities, basement spaces and other unique interiors that can serve as film locations.
Depending on the project, MA 44 provides the necessary on-site staff to support productions, with staffing levels tailored to the size and specific requirements of each shoot. Underwater filming is also possible in selected pools, although pool depth varies by location and should be taken into account during the planning stage. For larger productions, a lead time of two to three months is recommended.
Applications for filming in Vienna's public baths must be submitted via the Vienna Film Commission's digital application tool. Productions are also encouraged to coordinate with MA 44 at an early stage alongside the application process.
