Funding Vienna
Support is available for feature films for cinema release (minimum 70 minutes), children's films, documentaries (minimum 59 minutes) and television films. Depending on the funding area, grants are either non-repayable or repayable based on success. The detailed provisions are set out in the funding guidelines.
Project submissions are accepted throughout the year; however, funding decisions are made by the jury or the management of the Vienna Film Fund on specified submission dates.
Project Development
The Vienna Film Fund supports the development of cinema or television projects—including pre-production measures—with project development funding. This is awarded as a performance-based repayable grant and amounts to up to EUR 50,000 for feature films and up to EUR 75,000 for series.
Production of feature films
The Vienna Film Fund supports the production of feature films with production funding in the form of a performance-related repayable grant of up to EUR 700,000 (in accordance with Part C of the funding guidelines). The minimum running time is 59 minutes for children's films and 70 minutes for all other feature films.
Production of television programs
The Vienna Film Fund supports the production of fictional series formats with a non-repayable grant of up to EUR 330,000 per season; from the third season onwards, the maximum amount is EUR 121,000. Feature films are supported with up to EUR 110,000 on a case-by-case basis. Documentary formats receive up to EUR 66,000, documentary series up to EUR 88,000 per season. From the third season onwards, the maximum amount for documentary series is up to EUR 55,000.
