Located on Mölker Steig in Vienna's first district, the medieval ring wall ran along this street, and in the 16th century, a curtain wall of the Mölker Bastei was built a little further out of town. In the 17th century, small guardhouses for the city guard were built along the driveway, which became privately owned in the 18th century. The descent to Schottengasse was then called Mölker Stiege and was renamed Schottensteig in 1862. After the curtain wall was demolished in 1870/71, some of the houses were removed; the remaining buildings – including the staircase – were then grouped together under the name Mölker Steig. Today, Mölker Steig is characterized by a closed ensemble of historic buildings with continuous cobblestone paving. Limited Permits must be requested via the Vienna Film Commission's application tool; filming permits must be requested directly via the MA 46 application form.
