With around 170 market stalls and a length of 948 meters, Vienna’s Brunnenmarkt is considered the longest permanent street market in Europe. As one of the city’s most affordable markets, located in Vienna’s 16th district, it offers an exceptionally diverse range of goods: from cafés, bars, and Middle Eastern cuisine to regional foods, souvenirs, and designer products. This density and diversity in a compact space create a visually and atmospherically versatile backdrop that is particularly well-suited for film and television productions. The only permanent brick market stalls of the Brunnenmarkt are located on the adjacent Yppenplatz to the north. This area is also available as a filming location and offers additional creative possibilities thanks to its architectural structure. Historically, the market originated in 1786 around a fountain on Thaliastraße and developed over time along Brunnengasse. In 2009, it merged with the former Yppenmarkt. Following extensive renovation, the market has featured modern infrastructure and a level pedestrian zone since 2010, which significantly simplifies the logistical requirements for filming.
