Covering around 3,500 square metres, Rochusmarkt is one of Vienna’s more compact yet particularly lively markets. Thanks to its compact layout, high visitor numbers and mix of market stalls and the surrounding shopping area, the location offers an authentic, urban setting with plenty of atmosphere in a compact space. For film shoots, the market offers a wide range of visual possibilities with a strong sense of local character. The range includes fruit, vegetables and cheese, as well as small craft and jewellery stalls, guaranteeing a variety of interesting shooting locations. The shopping street directly adjacent to the market expands the backdrop with additional urban scenes and allows for seamless transitions between market activity and city life. In 1192, an important trade route was located on the grounds of Rochusmarkt. At the end of the 18th century, what was then known as the Augustinermarkt developed there. Rochusmarkt was redesigned and architecturally unified in its present form in 1988.
