Situated on 9 hectares of land, Laudon Castle is the only moated castle within the city limits of Vienna. It was first documented in 1130. Its current Baroque design dates back to the last comprehensive renovation in 1744. From 1964 to 1975, guests from around the world experienced a touch of its grand past at the 5-star luxury hotel. Afterwards, the Federal Academy of Public Administration used the property for training purposes for almost 50 years. Since March 2024, the property has been rented out exclusively for film productions and events on a temporary basis. The castle boasts several state rooms: the library, dating from around 1780, is the only Neoclassical library in Vienna with grisaille paintings, a stucco ceiling, and a valuable crystal chandelier; the fresco hall features an allegory of the continents by Johann Bergl (circa 1770) and magnificent crystal chandeliers; the "Sissi Room" contains an original oil painting of Empress Elisabeth of Austria; and the grand staircase is lavishly decorated, including an original oil painting of Field Marshal Ernst Gideon Freiherr von Laudon. In total, the castle has 61 rooms, including the aforementioned state rooms and nine suites. There are also numerous outbuildings: a listed pavilion, a restaurant with a beer garden and two bowling alleys, a listed old mill, staff quarters, a chicken coop, a Texion garage, stables with a manager's apartment, a palm house, a pond annex, a park annex, a sports center, and three tennis courts. The spacious grounds offer ample room for all the film crew's vehicles. There are also three conveniently located high-voltage power connections and a water connection for the base. The "Pond Abutment" building provides plenty of space for the film crew's meals and includes restrooms.
