Praterstraße in Vienna’s 2nd district is an approximately 1 km long street that connects the Praterstern, one of the city’s largest transport hubs, with the Schwedenbrücke, the Danube Canal, and Taborstraße. On one side, the Danube Canal opens up, creating a distinctive atmosphere with its urban flair and attractive waterfront. On the other side lies the Prater, which includes both the Wurstlprater with its numerous rides and a vast recreational area featuring expansive green spaces, meadows, avenues, and forests. Looking towards Praterstern, the view falls on the Tegetthoff Monument, a prominent landmark of the street. Praterstraße itself is a very wide four-lane street with traffic in both directions. At the same time, it offers plenty of greenery through a central median and trees lining both sides. Notable are also the numerous outdoor cafés, restaurants, and eateries, which give the street its lively, urban atmosphere.
