How do I apply for a filming permit from Wiener Linien?
Filming permits within the jurisdiction of Wiener Linien must be applied for using the form available on the Wiener Linien website.
When is filming permitted during regular service hours?
Monday to Friday: 9:30 am - 2:30 pm, from 6:00 pm onwards.
Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays: Filming can be approved for the entire day.
Is filming possible during operating hours with measures that restrict operations?
No. Such filming is generally not permitted during regular operating hours.
When can technical equipment such as spotlights, dollies, or cranes be used?
The use of technical equipment such as spotlights, dollies, cranes, etc. is only permitted outside of operating hours.
What lead times should be taken into account for approval?
Standard filming permits:

A lead time of three to four weeks is recommended.
What locations are available?
The selection includes subway, tram, and bus stations, vehicles (interior and exterior shots), inspection corridors, stairways, and depots (e.g., Erdberg, Spittelau, Heiligenstadt).
Are there power connections on site?
No. There are no power connections available in the station areas. You must bring your own generator. Diesel generators are not permitted.
How much does a filming permit cost?
The cost depends on the individual production.

Applications must be submitted using the online forms on the ÖBB press website. Depending on the type of project, a distinction must be made between editorial and commercial use.
When is filming considered editorial?
Filming is considered editorial when the footage is used for journalistic or informational purposes—not for commercial or business purposes. Examples: news reports, documentaries, and feature stories.
Is a filming permit also valid as a ticket?
No. The filming permit does not replace a train ticket. All persons involved must carry a valid ticket for the journey.
When is filming considered commercial?
Filming is considered commercial if the material is used commercially, e.g., for commercials, feature films, or content for marketing campaigns. Commercial productions require a fee-based contract with ÖBB Real Estate Management.
What lead time should I plan for approval?
Editorial inquiries:

What kinds of locations are available?
