Information about filming permits
Filming on property owned by the City of Vienna requires a permit. This includes, among other things, parks, meadows, and forested areas; the Danube Canal; the Danube Island; all areas along the Danube, the Old Danube, and the New Danube; markets; swimming pools; municipal housing; city hospitals and care facilities; and the sewer system.

Where do I submit the application for a filming permit?
Applications for filming permits within the jurisdiction of the Vienna City Administration must be submitted via the Vienna Film Commission's digital application tool.
How does the approval process work?
Once the application has been submitted, the Vienna Film Commission will draft a letter of recommendation and forward it to the relevant department. The department will then contact the applicant directly.
Are there any fees for filming permits?
Yes, the property management departments usually charge fees for filming permits. The Vienna Film Commission’s services are free of charge.

Social Housing
I would like to film in a social housing complex (Gemeindebau). How do I get a filming permit?

Sewer System
How do I obtain a permit to film in the Vienna sewer system?
Permits for filming in the sewer system, on properties and land owned by Wien Kanal, and for the “The Third Man” tour must also be applied for through the Vienna Film Commission.
Vienna Healthcare Group
I would like to film in a hospital or nursing home belonging to the Vienna Healthcare Group. Is that possible?
